Conventional cotton is often farmed as a mono-crop, where only one crop is grown year after year on the same plot of land. This process is super intense, requiring chemicals to manage pests, synthetic fertilisers to feed the plants, and huge amounts of water.
Why We Use It
We use organic cotton to reduce the impact our cotton clothing has on the planet. Organic cotton farmers use more traditional farming methods including crop rotation and complementary crops to help with natural pest control. Organic fertilisers also improve the soil health and help it retain water.
Yes, organic cotton is still a virgin material, but studies show that its environmental impact is much lower than conventional cotton.
