• What Is Passenger

Passenger is a responsible outdoor clothing brand with a mission to “inspire meaningful escapism”. We make attainable and durable products for life outdoors, with a focus on responsibility.

The business was founded in 2012. Fast forward 12 years, our HQ is nestled amongst the New Forest in the UK and we employ almost 100 people globally.

    About Us
  • Founder Story

Passenger began as a pipe dream in the back of a beat-up T4 campervan aptly named Douglas Fir, while Richard Sutcliffe and his now-wife Alexa were travelling the remote wilds of British Columbia.

Rich was an electrician, and Alexa a graphic designer. Whilst traveling they longed for a different way of life, and their love of escapism led them to start the brand, creating responsible outdoor gear meant for a life of meaningful escapism.

  • Our Responsibility

"We create products that enable a life of meaningful escapism using more responsible materials and mindful processes. We’re always challenging ourselves, every day, and we have so much more to do, exciting things are on the horizon…"

    Responsibility Policy
  • Plant & Protect

We plant a tree for every order and protect acres and acres of rainforest every month, in partnership with two amazing conservation charities, Trees for the Future (TREES) and Rainforest Trust. We’ve been working with Trees for the Future since 2018 and have planted over 1.3 million trees. In 2024, we traveled to Eastern Uganda to visit the farmers and communities our donations have supported.

    Plant & Protect
  • Our Materials

Currently, over 74% of the materials we use are recycled or organic, namely organic cotton, recycled cotton, recycled polyester, and recycled nylon. We removed plastic from our packaging years ago and are proud to be PFAS and PFC-free.

  • Our Suppliers

As part of our commitment to a fair, responsible and transparent supply chain, we’ve made it a priority to map our suppliers and share their stories. We’re working hard to be transparent, sharing more info as we make progress.

Quotes

  • “We spent a lot of time over in Canada with friends and family, our home from home. It was over there on a beautifully vacant, driftwood beach surrounded by waves & trees when I had a moment of real clarity. I remember it like yesterday, salty skin thawing out fireside, Alex cooking up some chili, beer in hand watching the sun set behind the horizon. Ever since that moment, I’ve known my purpose, protecting the places we play and inspiring meaningful escapism.”
