People of Passenger: Meet The Design Team
As part of the People of Passenger series, we wanted to introduce you to the people that make it all happen.
At home when ideas are flowing and inspiration is high, never far from a sketchbook and always soaking up the great outdoors... Meet the design team:
KATIE, LEAD DESIGNER
Hailing from sunny Poole, Katie embraces hazy coastal living and regular family escapes in the van. Pilgrimages to somewhere with a snow filled backcountry are never far from thought.
An original member of the team, Katie has been fundamental to the Passenger journey and her personality is woven into the collections, season after season.
With a passion for textile design heritage and with a lifetime of experience, Katie leads up our design department (and makes incredible cakes).
“I've found a life balance working with Passenger that I really appreciate. I know that at any time I can wander into the surrounding forests to recharge and find some stillness, that kind of thing is a really important part of my design process." ~ Katie Hayes, Lead Design
JON, GRAPHIC DESIGNER
Embracing laid back island life, Jon calls the Isle Of Wight home. Always on top of swell reports, and usually drying a wetsuit behind his desk, Jon has salt-water escapism in his veins.
A morning commute of vans, ferrys and bikes means Jon arrives each morning having already tracked miles across land and sea. A passion for 60s surf culture and hand drawn illustration brings an authentic aesthetic to our visual message.
"Some of my favourite designs have come to me while I'm in the water, it's out there that I feel most connected to the Passenger ethos..." ~ Jon Line, Graphic Designer
POURRI KNITTED SWEATER
ATLAS BEANIE RUST
Graduating from Bournemouth University, Sophia joined the team as our sustainable design intern at the start of 2018. A passion for conservation and ethical manufacturing processes brings meaningful insight to the design team.
Sophia's internship didn't last long, being snapped up as a full time member of the team after a couple of months. Often found island hopping in Scilly, Sophia is never far from the beach.
"Being a part of a team that has a clear vision about what it stands for, and where it wants to be means a lot to me. There's so many exciting things to come, and we're making positive changes all the time... " ~ Sophia Church, Design
